A BIT ABOUT ME

Hi,

Allow me to share a little about myself and my journey. Art has been a profound passion of mine for as long as I can remember. There are delightful childhood pictures of me, from the tender age of 2, covered from head to toe in vibrant paint. Growing up in Biggleswade, and later relocating to Gloucester for my education, I attended school before embarking on a college art course at Stroud College. Seeking to further develop my artistic skills, I pursued a Fine Art degree at Birmingham City University upon completion of my college studies.

Following the completion of my degree, I embarked on a quest to find a career that truly resonated with me. After gaining some valuable work experience during the summer holidays, I found myself drawn to the field of care work. Over the years, I have had the privilege of providing support and care in various capacities, ranging from supporting individuals in accommodation settings to one-on-one care and care home environments. The remarkable individuals I had the pleasure of assisting during this time left an indelible impression on me. However, I felt an inherent desire to integrate my passion for art into my professional life.

This led me to accept a position as an activities coordinator at a care home in Maypole, Birmingham. Working alongside an exceptional Occupational Therapist, I acquired invaluable knowledge and together, we crafted a truly exceptional activities program that resonated with everyone involved. During this period, I also collaborated with Birmingham Centre of Arts Therapies (BCAT), a charitable organization dedicated to providing therapeutic arts sessions to adults and children throughout the West Midlands. The experience of working with BCAT through the care home inspired me to embark on my own journey with them. Since 2019, I have worked part-time for BCAT, organizing numerous workshops for adults and children across Birmingham.

Having spent years as an activities coordinator and an arts-in-health facilitator, I eventually mustered the courage to establish my own business. Hence, the inception of NV Arts and Health—a venture I am passionate about and eager to nurture.

In terms of my education, I have acquired the following qualifications:

  • Level 3 certification in teaching English as a second language

  • Level 3 Advanced apprenticeship in care

  • Honours degree in Fine Art

It brings me immense joy to intertwine art and wellness in my professional endeavours, and I am excited to witness the continued growth and success of NV Arts and Health.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about my story. Feel free to explore the services I offer, and I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with you.

Warm regards
